Enterprise Network East
Overview
The INTERREG III A East Border Region Partnership has allocated funds to a Programme to facilitate the development of trade and civic links between the East Border Region and Central and Eastern Europe, including Scandanavia. All of the District Councils and County Enterprise Boards in the East Border Region are supporting this Programme which is called Enterprise Network East. The Programme will be administered by a partnership of Local Enterprise Agencies and County Enterprise Boards in the East Border Region led by Newry and Mourne Enterprise Agency, which is based at WIN Business Park in Newry. It is envisaged that the Enterprise Network East Programme, which will run in 2007 and 2008 will be the first phase of a larger initiative to develop transnational links with the emerging economies of Central and Eastern Europe between 2008 and 2013.
Enterprise Network East will support:

The development of civic and educational linkages between the East Border Region and Central and Eastern Europe under the Partnership East sub-programme.

The sourcing of trade and joint venture opportunities in Central and Eastern Europe for businesses based in the East Border Region under the Passport sub-programme.

Research associated with the opening up of new development opportunities in Central and Eastern Europe for organisations and businesses based in the East Border Region under the Business-wise sub-programme.
Who is eligible:

Businesses based in the East Border Region i.e. in the District Council areas of Ards, Armagh, Banbridge, Craigavon, Down and Newry and Mourne and counties Louth and Monaghan.

Local Authorities based in the East Border Region.

FE Colleges, Institutes of Technology and schools based in the East Border Region.

Local Enterprise Agencies and County Enterprise Boards in the East Border Region.

Social Enterprises based in the East Border Region.
Enterprise Network East will provide:
- Discretionary assistance with travel and subsistence costs.
- An expert project developer.
- A dedicated research executive.
Business Applicants:
Individual business participants will be charged £300 to participate in the programme. In return each business will receive a package of support which includes a trip to Central / Eastern Europe to assess or develop a joint venture or trading opportunity, support from a projet development advisor and a dedicated specialist researcher. The value of this package of support is estimated to be £2,300.
This project is part financed by the European Union's INTERREG IIIA Programme managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by the East Border Region INTERREG IIIA Partnership. The Programme has also been part financed by the District Councils in Ards, Armagh, Banbridge, Down, Newry and Mourne as well as the Louth County Enterprise Board, Monaghan County Enterprise Board and Craigavon Industrial Development Organisation.
